Dr. Camins is a board-certified forensic psychologist and licensed clinical psychologist in Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Missouri. He is one of under 400 individuals across the United States to be Board Certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology in Forensic Psychology. He is currently serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Counseling Psychology at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign where he teaches graduate courses on psychopathology and psychological assessment.
Dr. Camins earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Criminal Justice and Psychology from the University of New Haven. He received a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Towson University. He received a second master’s degree and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Clinical Psychology from Sam Houston State University. He completed his predoctoral internship at the Memphis VA Medical Center and went on to complete a postdoctoral fellowship in forensic psychology at Mendota Mental Health Institute and Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Center.
Dr. Camins previously worked as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and as a Clinical Psychologist at Carle Health. His prior academic affiliations have included The College of New Jersey, William Patterson University, Eastern Illinois University, Southern Illinois University, and University of Illinois at Springfield. His clinical experiences have included work in outpatient community mental health, juvenile probation, state psychiatric hospitals, county jails, state prisons, schools, and VA medical centers. .
