Evaluations

Our psychologists conduct a variety of court related evaluations for both juveniles and adults that include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Fitness or Competency to Stand Trial
  • Criminal Responsibility, Sanity, Diminished Capacity, or Guilty but Mentally Ill
  • Sex Offender, Psychosexual Risk, or Sex Offender Registry Removal
  • Violence Risk Assessment
  • Juvenile Transfer of Jurisdiction
  • Competency for Self-Representation (Pro Se)
  • Civil Competencies (Testamentary, Consent to Treatment, Guardianship, and others)
  • Independent Medical Examinations
  • Service or Disability Eligibility
  • Diagnosis and Treatment Recommendations
  • Mitigation for Sentencing or Parole Board Hearings
  • Competence to Waive Miranda Rights
  • Problem Solving Court Screening and Consultation

Expert Testimony

  • Evidenced based testimony directly applied to the psycho-legal question at hand in understandable language.

Consultation

  • Providing specialized knowledge to stakeholders about psychological phenomena, testing, and assessment.

Training & Supervision

  • Providing insightful workshops and training on a variety of psycho-legal topics.
    • Topics may include: Evaluation Basics & Best Practices; Forensic Report Writing; Improving Diagnostic Accuracy; Introduction to Performance & Symptom Validity; Clinical Interviewing; Fundamentals of Forensic Evaluations; Schizophrenia vs. Substance-Induced Psychosis; or others
    • Interested parties may inquire about other available topics
  • Experienced supervision for undergraduate and graduate students.

Where and Who Do We Serve?

  • FPS is based in the Quad City area that includes Moline, East Moline, and Rock Island in Illinois as well as Davenport and Bettendorf in Iowa. FPS primarily serves the surrounding counties such as Rock Island, Mercer, and Henry Counties in Illinois as well as Clinton, Scott, and Muscatine Counties in Iowa. We also provide services in the extended area outside of the Quad Cities and can facilitate further virtual-distance based evaluations in the states where the psychologists are licensed in.
  • We take referrals by court order, retainer from private attorneys, and requests from agencies.
